Stand Alone Access Control
Stand-alone access control represents the most basic level of access control. For small-scale applications or where a networked system is not required stand-alone systems offer convenient, programmable access control at a low cost. Stand-alone systems are not continuously connected to a host computer, but are rather programed locally at each unit either through a built-in keypad or a portable PC hookup. These systems typically utilize keypads or cards for credentials and can be installed in any quantity at a particular facility, however for large-scale applications maintenance and programming can be complicated and time consuming.
